Work Safely in a Confined Space & Gas Test Atmosphere – Smart and Skilled
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles undertaking work in confined spaces.
Program Outline
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces and to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work.
Prerequisite – There are no prerequisites for this program.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this program, Participants will have gained the following skills and knowledge:
- Plan and prepare for working in a confined space
- Emergency response procedures
- Prepare for gas testing / test gas
- Working in a confined space safely
- Communication techniques
- Complete an entry permit
- Exited a confined space correctly and safely
- Maintain equipment, close down and clean area.
Upon successful completion of the Training Program, Participants will receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment RIIWHS202E and MSMWHS217
