Program Outline
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate a gantry or overhead crane in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles. This unit is “industry based” and is used for assessing workplace competence.
Prerequisite – There are no prerequisites for this program.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this program, participants will have gained the following skills and knowledge:
- Plan and prepare for gantry/overhead crane operations
- Select and wear PPE appropriate for the activity
- Prepare load for lift in accordance with crane limitations and rigging requirements.
- Interpret signals
- Monitor lift and ensure compliance
- Inspect crane for faults
- Carry out crane maintenance
Upon successful completion of the Training Program, Participants will receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment RIIHAN305D.

Fees and Charges
The program fee is $2,200 per day for up to 12 persons. This fee includes Training and Assessment and Program material costs.
