Program Outline

This unit describes the outcomes required to trim and cut felled trees with a chainsaw and to complete operator maintenance. It applies to situations where the production of timber is not the primary focus of the activity.
The unit applies to a forestry worker, chainsaw operator, forest harvester, harvesting technician and arboriculture worker.

Prerequisites – There are no prerequisites for this program.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this program, Participants will have gained the following skills and knowledge:

  • Plan for trimming and cutting
  • Select appropriate PPE and other equipment
  • Visually assess felled trees
  • Plan for cutting
  • Use chainsaw safely and correctly
  • Complete equipment maintenance

Note: Participants are required to bring their own chainsaw, petrol, PPE including chaps, safety helmet and safety glasses.
Upon successful completion of the Training Program, Participants will receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment FWPCOT2254 & FWPCOT2273.

**A Wallet Card including the Statement of Attainment and VOC (Verification of Competency) will be also issued to each participant at the completion of this program.

HPOTS Training Campus, Cessnock.

Fees and Charges

The program fee is $550 per person. This fee includes Training and Assessment and Program material costs.
